RULES

Conditions for Case Submission

Clinical cases involving bone regeneration techniques prior to or simultaneous with implant placement are eligible. Teams can have up to three participants as authors, with the first signer serving as the lead author. Teams may be interdisciplinary, and cases should demonstrate medium to high complexity. To submit a case, the lead author must be a SEPA member.

Each lead author may submit only one case, but secondary authors may submit their own cases as lead authors or appear as co-authors on other submissions.

Eligible authors include dentists, dental students, and students enrolled in dental master’s or postgraduate programs.

Submission Procedure

Clinical cases must be submitted through the designated online platform.

The deadline for submission is February 15, 2025.

To upload a case, the main author must first register on the platform. After registration, they will receive an automatic confirmation, which will allow them to proceed with submitting the case. If no confirmation is received, authors should contact sepa@sepa.es.

The platform’s submission structure is as follows:

  • Title
  • Abstract: Maximum 200 words, without any abbreviations, structured according to the case content:
    • Case presentation.
    • Discussion.
    • Conclusions.
    • Clinical relevance.
    • Bibliographic references (up to 20).
    • Tables (if applicable).
    • Photograph captions (where applicable)
    • Photographs (where applicable, uploaded and appropriately labeled)
  • Photographs: All aforementioned photographs should be uploaded as a single document.

Once the case is uploaded, the authors will receive an automatic confirmation. If no confirmation is received, please contact sepa@sepa.es.

Email submissions will not be accepted; all cases must be uploaded through the online platform.

All documentation, including the presentation to the jury, must be in English. Cases submitted in Spanish or other languages will not be considered.

Selection Process

Phase 1
A jury appointed by SEPA will select the 12 best cases. All participants will be notified of the jury’s decision.

Selection criteria include:

  • Case complexity
  • Surgical management
  • Outcomes achieved

Phase 2

The 12 selected cases shall be presented online on March 8, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. The exact presentation time will be provided in advance.

Each presentation will be 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session with the jury, if necessary. This phase will take place online.

The presentations will be organized into 4 “battles,” with 3 participants per group. One winner will be chosen from each battle, resulting in 4 finalists. All participants will receive notification of the results within 72 hours via email.

The groups will be arranged based on the scores from Phase 1, with the top 4 scorers placed in separate groups. The second-highest scorers will be similarly distributed, and so on.

Phase 3

The 4 finalists must present their cases in person at the Sepa Barcelona 2025 Congress on November 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The exact presentation time will be notified in advance. The session will begin at 3:00 p.m. with a keynote lecture on regeneration, followed by the clinical case competition finals.

Final presentations will be 20 minutes long by the main author, with an additional 10 minutes for questions from the jury, if necessary. Presentations must be delivered in person at the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB)—online presentations will not be allowed.

Prizes

The 4 finalists from Phase 3 will be awarded a clinical stay.

The winning cases will be announced on Saturday, November 29, during the 2025 Sepa Barcelona Congress.

1. Best clinical case of the Regeneration World Cup
2. Best Junior Clinical Case of the Regeneration World Cup, awarded to the best case presented by a clinician under 30 years of age.
